Roundflash Dish Hands On Review ….

I have had a Roundflash for a while now and enjoy its portability, ease of use and simplicity. But the funny thing is I actually end up using it off camera more then on camera, like a consolable soft-box, which is how the new version is designed to be used.

Fate & Failure ….

A while back I shot a vampire musical by Johann Günther which was a lot of fun. So when he ask me to shoot a few promotional photos for his upcoming musical “Fate & Failure” I jumped at the opportunity.

Quenox Light Shaper Kit for External Flash

There are a lot of things that are going to have to fit into my lighting bag, one of the first things I want to try out is Quenox Light Shaper Kit for External Flash. The kit itself is designed to fit any systems flash and comes with a variety of light modifiers. This is just my first impressions as I took them out of the box to play with, I have a few shoots planed in the next few months to really test them out.

Studio in a Bag …. Part 1

I have a lot of mobile lighting gear…. I can’t help it, it like a compulsion. Playing with light either in the studio or out and about strobist  style (the term strobist is actually a registered trademark and if you don’t know the strobist website you really should check it out) is something I really enjoy, but it can be hard and expensive to find the exact lighting equipment there is so much of it out there now days. So as I’m heading down to my sisters wedding latter this year in New Zealand I want to put together 1 bag of lighting equipment to take with me. So I want to test a few items and really find a balance between price, quality, portability, compatibility etc

Migaro and Sylvain

This weeks Monday night shoot was again something totally different to the last few weeks. This week 2 models from Manigoo Models in Mannheim were out and about with me and Philip. Originally we were going to head up to Turmburg for a few sunset photos but light and weather conditions just weren’t in our favour. So we headed into a small underpass near the studio and had some fun with a strobist style shoot.

RoundFlash Mobile Softbox

And I have a new toy to write about. The RoundFlash Mobile Softbox 45 cm  is the first real solution I have found for converting your system flash into a ring flash. I have tried a few different variations over the years but was never happy with the results. After we all had a play with Toms one way back at the Palm Valley shoot, 10 of us put our money together and bought in bulk….

Malysal

First of I have to thanks Malysal for jumping in last minute and modelling as my original couldn’t make it. My co-photographer this week was Dennis , it was cool to shoot with a fellow Alpha user. The fact that our lens collection complement each other and we could use triggers with out adapters added to the fun.

LULU …

My Monday night shoot this week was with Lulu and Steffen. The concept was to do a high-key based shoot with strip-lights in different positions. I took lighting ideas from past shoots and mixed them up to match the look I wanted to achieve.

Cat van Dark

This week I was in the studio with Cat van Dark and Lennart. The shoot concept was to shoot a few portraits with very minimalistic lighting. I’m a bit fan of narrow depth of field portraits and wanted to create a lighting style that had a low key look.
