I Was born in Australia and grew up in New Zealand. After travelling and working my around the place I have settled in Karlsruhe Germany…..
- I am interested in the history of photography. All the great stuff that come from the early days of photography up to the late60’s.
- I love experimenting with light in and out of the studio finding new ways of using old things.
- New and different equipment is also cool anything that someone developed because they thought it would become the new essential bit of kit. Or re designed for the same reason.
I don’t know what else to say other then I hope there is something here that you find interesting.

Hi Scott,
My name is Vadim. This summer, I started a company that makes high quality, elegantly designed, and reasonably priced camera slings in Newark, New Jersey.
I saw your review of the Phottix strap, and think you’ll find the Lens Loop to be superior in terms of materials, workmanship, and design. I would very much like to send you a sample of one of my straps to review and share with your readers on your blog.
If you’re interested, please take a look at the color options on LensLoop.com and let me know the address where I can send a sample for you to try out.
Thanks and best regards!

Hi thanks for the comment. I have sent you my details. And am looking forward to seeing your product.
Great work as always. You need to crank up your copyright date to include 2013, you wouldn’t want to be “out of date.”
BTW on your main page you have “weather” to mean this or that. The spelling for that usage is “whether.”
I traced the Sabrestrip back from here but didn’t find out as much as I wanted. So it isn’t really a modifier, it is a flash unit that has a long tube as it output.? Some “right angle fiber optic” material perhaps?
Hi
to be honest the Sabrestrip is not much more that an expensive Pringles tube with a flash mount in it… It needs to be a lot cheaper before I would buy one 🙂
Thanks for the feedback
Hi Scott, I will like to know your opinion on the Walimex Beauty Ring Light, I read your description of the item but I will like to know if you have had a chance to test with it, I do portraits for actors and I think this ring light could help me, but I will love to know your opinion.
I work in London, regards, rocco
Hi it depends on which version you are looking at getting. Get the biggest version you can afford as it makes a large difference to the rings reflected in the subjects eyes
