Return of Lord Vader

Not long ago in a galaxy not so far away,  I had the chance to photograph one of the “501 German Garrison” Darth Vaders. That costume was a 100% true remake of the Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Vader costume. The time was the costume was a 100% accurate version of Darth Vader in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. To be honest I was kind of excited as a big Star Wars fan, a new hope was the first film I ever saw at the cinema as a kid. I also wanted to time this shoot for Star Wars celebration this weekend

RoundFlash Mobile Softbox

And I have a new toy to write about. The RoundFlash Mobile Softbox 45 cm  is the first real solution I have found for converting your system flash into a ring flash. I have tried a few different variations over the years but was never happy with the results. After we all had a play with Toms one way back at the Palm Valley shoot, 10 of us put our money together and bought in bulk….

The Extraordinary Karlsruhe Ladies League of Temporal Adventurers and Society for a Better Cup of Tea.

I needed a better name that just “Steampunk shoot” so the “The Extraordinary Karlsruhe Ladies League of Temporal Adventurers and Society for a Better Cup of Tea” aka TEKLLTASBCT was born. I love photographing people that have an obsession  maybe because I can relate to them. The chance to do a steampunk shoot with 2 “ladies” that make fantastic Victorian/Gothic style clothing.

Karlsruhe 1932 … Part 2

This may be the last batch of scans for a while, as the rest of the glass negatives are either highly over or under exposed. The standard software that comes with my scanner isn’t the best. It looks like i will probably have to invest in Silverfast or some thing similar.

HVL-F43M

Sony just has announced the HVL-F43M – a powerful, fully featured new flash that is compatible with all of the company’s latest cameras and interchangeable-lens camcorders equipped with the new Multi Interface Shoe.

The advanced new flash builds on the success of the acclaimed Sony HVL-F43AM and offers the same popular ‘Quick Shift Bounce’ system that allows instant rotation of the flash head when switching between landscape and portrait compositions. This maintains the same bounce angle in either shooting position for consistently-lit photos.

Karlsruhe 1932 … Part 1

Recently we were at “my Wife’s, Uncle’s, Partner’s birthday”. During dinner she remarked “Scott I have something for you”…. My ears picked up and was curious as to what she had. It turns out she was cleaning out her cupboards and found a box of 100 old glass negatives of Karlsruhe (the city in Germany where we live). The photos were taken by her long dead husbands farther. i.e my Wife’s, Uncle’s, Partner’s, ex- Farther in-law.
