Return of Lord Vader

Not long ago in a galaxy not so far away,  I had the chance to photograph one of the “501 German Garrison” Darth Vaders. That costume was a 100% true remake of the Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Vader costume. The time was the costume was a 100% accurate version of Darth Vader in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. To be honest I was kind of excited as a big Star Wars fan, a new hope was the first film I ever saw at the cinema as a kid. I also wanted to time this shoot for Star Wars celebration this weekend

Toxic Trash

After a lot of blogging last week I’m taking it a bit easier this week. ~ToXic~Trash~ is a local cyber-goth so it is time to get into the studio and do some crazy lighting.

Barbie beatdown …

A busy week of bloging this week. Lots and lots going on, Monday night as usual I was out shooting with another photographer. This time Christine “Just in time” Lutz was out and about with me and Model Barbie Beatdown. The idea behind this shoot was to get out of the studio and shoot with our RoundFlash adapters.

Karlsruhe 1932 … Part 2

This may be the last batch of scans for a while, as the rest of the glass negatives are either highly over or under exposed. The standard software that comes with my scanner isn’t the best. It looks like i will probably have to invest in Silverfast or some thing similar.

Karlsruhe 1932 … Part 1

Recently we were at “my Wife’s, Uncle’s, Partner’s birthday”. During dinner she remarked “Scott I have something for you”…. My ears picked up and was curious as to what she had. It turns out she was cleaning out her cupboards and found a box of 100 old glass negatives of Karlsruhe (the city in Germany where we live). The photos were taken by her long dead husbands farther. i.e my Wife’s, Uncle’s, Partner’s, ex- Farther in-law.

Light and Dance painting….

I have seen several long exposure photos of dancers in the studio lately. They fascinated me with their ghostly shapes, and fluid movement. But I always found that something was missing it needed a bit of a kick. My concept was simple to add light painting into the dancers movements.

Luckily social networks allow ideas to come together, both of my associates for this shoot are people that I may have never meet otherwise. I have spoken with Piotr from B.I.K Performances a few times about different projects, but this was the first time our calendars matched. He basically danced 2 hours straight so a special thank you for such a great job.  Like every Monday I shoot with another local photographer, my original guest had to work longer but Micha was able to drop what he was doing and join the shoot.

Sunny

I have had several shoots with Sunny over the years. She was one of the first people I photographed when we opened the old studio. She was one of the first modeled for one of the first Friday night shoots so it was a great to shoot together again. Unfortunately due to bad weather we couldn’t get out to shoot at our planed location, so it was back into the studio again this week. Like every Monday i had a guest photographer, this week Carola who got to play with her new 85mm

Malysal

First of I have to thanks Malysal for jumping in last minute and modelling as my original couldn’t make it. My co-photographer this week was Dennis , it was cool to shoot with a fellow Alpha user. The fact that our lens collection complement each other and we could use triggers with out adapters added to the fun.

Día de Muertos

Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico, where it is a national holiday, and all banks are closed. The celebration takes place on November 1 and 2, in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honouring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favourite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts. They also leave possessions of the deceased.
