Susanne (from www.volair.de) and I have been trying to get this shoot together for a while now so i was really happy when it finally worked out.
Aerial silk (also known as aerial contortion, aerial ribbons, aerial silks, aerial tissues, fabric, ribbon, or tissu, depending on regional preference) is a type of performance in which one or more artists perform aerial acrobatics while hanging from a special fabric. Performers climb the suspended fabric without the use of safety lines, and rely only on their training and skill to ensure safety.
Unfortunately our studio roof could have been 2 or 3 meters higher so she could get her moves on. S we have open plans to shoot more latter this year in different situations but more about that latter.
Because she was moving a lot I used a very simple lighting set up that is quite versatile. 2 vertical strip lights set up as rim lighting about 2 stops brighter than my fill light, which was a very large octo-box. As the shoot went on I swapped out the rim lights for colour gels and finally added the smoke machine for effect.
Did you have any problems with the color gels. When wever i try it the colors seem blown out
